Research on the mechanism of mining-induced hidden karst subsidence column water inrush and seepage coupling model

Abstract: Water inrush reasons and mechanism of hidden karst subsidence column induced by mining coal and rock mass damage are analyzed taking the water inrush accident of 1035 working face of Taoyuan coal mine as the research object. A three-dimensional non-linear seepage coupling model of water inrush is established based on Darcy, Brinkman and Navier-Stokes equations for the geological conditions of water inrush location. The whole water inrush process of groundwater from the aquifer through the karst subsidence column into the roadway is studied by using multi-physics coupling software COMSOL Multiphysics(CM). The results showed that hidden karst subsidence column and hydraulic conductivity fracture zone is the key part of water inrush, the two conditions of water inrush are as follows: ① The aquifer and mining space is connected through the karst subsidence column or hydraulic conductivity fracture zone; ② The aquifer has adequate water supply and maintains a constant water pressure. The velocity of flow is step-increasing in the process of water inrush and the water inrush process can not be fully described by linear Darcy seepage. The process can be described better through the three-dimensional hidden karst subsidence column non-linear seepage coupling model of the paper and the analysis on mechanism of water inrush is proved.
