Design and Application of New Arc Angle PDC Bit Used in Coal Mine Underground

Abstract: For a long time, concave drill bit was mainly used in coal mine, but with the deepening of coal mining depth, more and more complex formation was encountered while underground drilling. When drilling hard rock (which hardness coefficient is greater than 8) by using ordinary three-wing concave drill, the drilling efficiency is low, the bit life is short and the drilling cost is high, so in order to solve the problem, the arc angle PDC bit was developed. By introducing the design theory of oil bit, the bit profile shape and cutter arrangement of arc angle PDC bit were optimized, also the cutters with chamfering were used. Drilling experiment was carried out in the colliery, comparing with the ordinary concave drill, the drill efficiency increased about 1.6 times, and the average bit life increased 2.8 times.
