Dynamic process on carbon footprint and carbon carrying capacity of coal resource type city: A case of Huainan, China

Abstract: Abstract: Taking Huainan as an example, according to the datas of energy consumption and vegetation from 2002 to 2014, carbon footprint, carbon carrying capacity and other related characterization indexes were analyzed in order to provide a basis of decision-making for the related parts of government about environment. The results showed that the carbon footprint of Huainan had been steadily increasing at a high value, which indicated energy consumption discharged vast quantities of the greenhouse gases; The carbon carrying capacity was quite small, especially in recent years, so the carbon deficit presents with severe situation; The intensity of carbon footprint had been decreasing that indicated a higher and higher efficiency in energy utilization with the continuous development of science and technology; The carbon pressure index was still high,as well as the per capita carbon deficit and the per area carbon deficit at a higher value; The per capita net carbon footprint and the net carbon footprint density of Huainan were higher than Anhui, and the intensity of carbon footprint and carbon pressure index gradually was approaching and then was under Anhui in recent years. The government of Huainan, in general, made some achievements, but still has high pressure.
