Abstract: Abstract：After the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia in 2020，There is an urgent need to rebuild the existing buildings，Make it a shelter hospital for the prevention and control of the epidemic。This paper takes Hongshan gymnasium, one of the first three shelter hospitals in Wuhan, as an example，From the construction principle, design interpretation, matters needing attention and promotion strategy，through theoretical analysis，data processing and other methods were analyzed for the transformation of the shelter hospital，the design process and results of shelter hospital reconstruction project are summarized，give full play to the value of public buildings in urban disaster prevention，It provides a new way to realize the conversion between peacetime and wartime。
