Experimental research on directional composite drilling in outburst coal seam

Abstract:

The mining length Ⅵ 15-17-12110 work-plane of Shoushan Coal Mine is 260 meters, the route of conventional cross-measure borehole is not enough and controllable, which result in blanking zone of gas drainage. For this reason, to verify the feasibility of directional composite drilling technology in outburst coal seam, Ⅵ 15-17-12110 work-plane was taken as the test subject, light directional drilling rig was applied for field test. Combining directional drilling with rotary drilling, the blank area in the middle of work-plane where conventional cross-measure borehole cannot control was used directional borehole for regional gas control. The field test result shows that the directional composite drilling technology would control the gas drainage in the mining area of work-plane by means of branch holes along the tendency of coal seam. The total length of boreholes is 580.5 meters, including rock hole section of 344.5 meters and coal hole section of 236.0 meters. The coal of 165.5 tons were flushed out. Through directional cross-measure boreholes, the geological conditions from the roadway to coal seam were proved as follows: the coal thickness was 5.6 meters, the gangue was 0.8 meters, and the distance between gangue and coal seam was 2.8 meters. The test results would provide new ideas and reliable technical support for regional gas control in outburst coal seam.
