Abstract: Aiming at the problems of single monitoring direction and poor coupling of borehole stressmeter, a new type of flexible stressmeter is designed, and its working principle is analyzed through mechanical modeling. The linearity, sensitivity, durability and temperature characteristics of the new stressmeter are tested in laboratory. The experimental data show that:① the flexible borehole stressmeter has good linearity, and the sensitivity of the stress gauge is about 0.29;② the long-term stability of the stressmeter is high, and the initial pressure stability period is about 2.5d-3d; ③ the flexible borehole stressmeter is significantly affected by the temperature change, and is more suitable for the stress monitoring of deep coal body with little temperature change, if carried out. Temperature effect should be considered in shallow coal or geotechnical engineering monitoring. Through field practice, the monitoring accuracy of the flexible borehole stressmeter is improved compared with the ordinary borehole stressmeter.
