Abstract: Abstract: Xinjiang Zhundong high inertinite of coal was selected to prepare activated carbon. The influence of carbonization process on iodine adsorption was studied according to the characteristics of Zhundong coal pyrolysis. Based on the Box-Behnken response surface methodology method, the activation process parameters were discussed and a prediction model for iodine adsorption was established based on activation temperature, activation time and water vapor flow. Researching the highest iodine adsorption of activated carbon by liquid nitrogen adsorption and scanning electron microscopy, the optimum activation conditions for preparation of activated carbon was as follows :activation temperature of 900℃, activation time of 90min, and water vapor flow rate 4ml/min.
