Study on grouting material of red clay for shaft water sealing and its engineering application

Abstract:

Based on the demand of mine water disaster prevention and control in Wumeng Mountain area, the local red clay is used as the grouting material for water plugging, and the grout properties of red clay cement slurry was studied. Results of the laboratory test shows that the viscosity and plastic strength of red clay cement grout are positively related to the added cement and structural additives, and the mixing ratio of red clay cement grout suitable for shaft water sealing was determined. Through infrared spectrum analysis, it was found that the hydration products of red clay cement grout mainly include ettringite, Ca(OH)2 crystal and C-S-H gel. In addition, the SEM tests revealed that structural additives can significantly promote the early hydration process of red clay cement slurry, which can significantly improve the microstructure compactness and stone rate of slurry. Finally, the red clay cement slurry material has been successfully applied in the pre-grouting project of the blind shaft of line 112 in Maoping Mine, and the water sealing rate was 98%. The red clay cement grout can effectively fill the water-conducting fractures which indicating that the red clay cement slurry has good groutability and excellent water plugging performance. Results of this paper have great reference significance for mine water disasters prevention and control in Southwest China.
