Abstract: For abnormal problems of no coal cinder，large slag discharging，lower rate of pore-forming and etc. when drilling in the seam with a combination of soft and hard interlayers in Jincheng Mining Area. The auger drilling technology with deep grooves and wide blades was proposed. The suitable drilling assemblies were developed and the applicability of the auger drilling technology was verified by the experiments. The results showed that the Φ95/60.3mm Spiral drill rod was better than the Φ110/63.5mm Spiral drill rod at rate of pore-forming. The Φ95/60.3mm Spiral drill rod with deep grooves and wide blades had a good adaptability to the seam with the structure of soft-hard interlaying，and it was useful for drilling in the seam. The auger drilling technology with deep grooves and wide blades has its advantages in solving the problem of high efficiency drilling in soft and hard coal seam.
