Abstract: The shafts of freeze sinking method in China have passed through 500 m, 600 m and 700 m thick alluviums successively. The existing standard has only the method of freezing pressure value of less than 500 m thick alluvium. Because the freezing pressure is the main calculated load for the strength and thickness design of the outer shaft wall, to study and determine the standard value of the freezing pressure of alluvium thicker than 500 m has important theoretical and practical significance for scientific and rational design of outer wall and safe construction of shaft wall. Based on the analysis and research on the test results of freezing pressures of the freezing walls in deep alluvium in China, a method for determining the standard value of freezing pressure in outer shaft wall design of frozen shafts in deep alluvium over 500m was put forward, which could be used as a reference for the design and construction of outer shaft structure.
