Abstract: In order to improve the stress condition inside the wire rope and prolong the service life of the wire rope, The structure of 6 × 36WS wire contact wire rope for shaft hoisting is improved based on the characteristics of the surface contact wire rope. The contact area of steel wire is increased by adding independent contact wire core between the side wire and rope core of the wire rope, so as to improve the service life of the wire rope. Through the establishment of mathematical model to study the influence of the force on the wire rope, it is concluded that the helical angle is the main factor affecting the force of wire rope. A simple strand wire rope model with different helix angles in different periods was established. Under the same load conditions, simulations were performed through ANSYS. The results show that internal stress state of the steel wire rope can be effectively improved with the independent contact core structure.
