The Market Structure and Optimal Competition Strategy in Coal Industry

摘要: 我国煤炭行业的市场结构具有产业集中度逐步上升、企业规模差异较大、产品差异性不强、企业进入退出壁垒较高等特点,不能简单归类于某一单类市场结构,而是长协煤市场和现货煤市场分别呈现寡头垄断和垄断竞争的特点。市场结构与企业行为密切相关并相互影响,煤炭企业在实现高质量发展的转型升级过程中,应根据长协煤和现货煤所表现的不同市场结构特点,结合自身在行业中所处的市场地位,相应确定其合适的企业竞争策略,实现最大收益。

Abstract: The market structure of China's coal industry has the characteristics of gradually increasing industrial concentration, differences in enterprise size, weak product differentiation, and high barriers to entry and exit the industry. It cannot be simply classified as a single type of market structure in Economics. Its long-term contract trading and short-term contract trading are characterized by oligopoly and monopoly competition, respectively. Market structure is closely related to corporate behavior. In the process of transformation and upgrading to achieve high-quality development, coal enterprises should determine their appropriate competition strategies,based on the realization of the different characteristics represented by long-term contract trading and short-term contract trading ,and also of their market positions in the industry.
