Mine closure is a long time, extensive and policy-oriented administrative management process, which has been widely and highly concerned in the world. This paper draws on the mine closure practice of foreign countries and regions with developed economy or mining industry and some institutions, and combines the current situation of mine closure mechanism, types of open-pit mine closure，mine closure management and technical problems faced in China. Based on national laws and regulations, this paper puts forward thoughts and suggestions on the financial guarantee mechanism for open pit closure, the reform of land use mode for open pit mining, the implementation of open pit closure mechanism throughout the life cycle of open pit and the strengthening of capacity building for open pit closure, which will help improve the open pit closure mechanism in China and have great significance for the reputation of enterprises and the sustainable development of society
