Abstract: Slicing mining is one of the main mining methods for thick coal mining. The deformation of the surrounding rock of the roadway affected by mining is a common factor in slicing mining. Ensuring the stability of the surrounding rock is a safety guarantee for the daily production of coal mines. This paper takes the Laogongyingzi Mine as an example. On the first layer, there is a 22m-wide coal pillar between the first mining face and the continuous face. Through theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, the range of the continuous face affected by mining is determined, and the support is optimized. The protection plan increases the stability of the surrounding rock of the roadway, and reduces the work of expanding and pulling the bottom of the connecting surface. The research shows that under the 22m wide coal pillar, the influence range of the first mining face on the continuous face is 50m from the leading face to 30m from the lagging face; the optimization plan is determined according to the observation of the numerical simulation effect, and the area with concentrated plastic failure set up reinforced anchor cables to strengthen support; through field application, the effectiveness of the optimization plan was determined.
